This heatsink base has a polished copper surface just like most coolers. That is anti-competitive behaviour and for lying to their customers they lose another star. Very cheap and effective compared to other coolers, but the installation is a bit of a pain. But after installation it works fine. I was worried at first because the base is smaller than the CPU surface AMD Phenom but it was fine - it just fits in the middle with a small gap around the edges. The AMD fitting is really easy - attach the flexible grips loosely and then tighten them when in place.
I have a tower case and thought sideways-mounting it would make it too heavy, but it is a lot lighter than I thought and is fine. Check the space next to your RAM though - if you have fancy RAM with teeth on the top, or really wide heat sinks, it might not fit you could move your RAM to slots 3 and 4 though. As another reviewer has said, it is so quiet I can now hear my case fans!
Installation is easy enough, but make sure that you have enough room for the fan mounting. I bought this cooler because my CPU would maintain temperatures of up to degrees while playing games, or watching movies - this would obviously lead to a shut down, and roughly 5 minutes of blind rage.
This WAS with a stock cooler and stock paste, but still, something drastic needed to be done. Amazing value, easy enough to install and effective. I was a bit nervous about installing this as I had not tried such a significant modification before. Instructions were really clear and the job was done in 10 minutes.
The reduction in sound compared to the standard Intel cooler was unbelievable. Much recommended but make sure you have plenty of room around your CPU as it is very big! Just like is younger brother rev.
Customer Reviews. Nice cooler for the price. Anonymous , 2nd May Distinctly meh and not silent. Mark Bell , 22nd February Cool and quiet Anonymous , 5th December Fiddly, but great Anonymous , 5th October Watch for heatsink back plate Martin H.
Robinson , 18th July Brilliant but annoying to install Anonymous , 16th June Does exactly what it says on the tin Steve Kerry , 5th May Very pleased Ben Pesterfield , 14th January Peace and quiet at last. Rick , 25th December Poor quality fan. The Freezer 7 Pro fan itself is 92mm and frameless like the Alpine 7, but it is rated for higher output. Strangely, the higher output Freezer 7 Pro fan uses a lower life ceramic bearing instead of the long life Fluid Dynamic Bearing featured in the cheaper Alpine 7.
Even the thermal compound comes pre-applied so mounting is incredibly easy. Push the four pins in the holes until they click and the cooler is mounted. The pushpins are not our favorites for secure mounting, but they seem very adequate for this lighter weight heatpipe tower. Installation is the easiest we have ever seen, which should be welcome news for mechanically challenged cooler installers.

Nice looking and does exactly what its supposed to. Easy to install no need to remove motherboard just push in pins. I will give 5 stars as there where no issues. Customer Reviews.
